California's
Redwood Forest and the wildlife that live in it have evolved over millions
of years.
Do
they no longer have a right to exist?
The
CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY
is
acting as if they don't !

Wild animals have
freely roamed the Redwood Forests since the beginning of time. Now they
are being forced out as large portions of their habitat are fenced off
and destroyed forever.
Allan Buckmann,
a wildlife biologist with the California Department of Fish and Game, said
habitat fragmentation is the biggest
culprit in species
extinction. In Sonoma County, he said, much of this fragmentation is caused
by grape growers who erect
impermeable fences
around their vines. (Press Democrat - December 8, 1999)
First, every tree
is cut down. Fires burn for months on end as every root and limb is turned
into smoke. The soil is then ripped to a depth of several feet to make
sure nothing living remains.
Lime is spread
on the soil surface and often poison gasses are used to kill even the microscopic
life.
By
the time the soil is ready for planting,
every
living thing has fled or is dead !
The CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY is working hand in hand with the vineyard developers
to eliminate the Redwood Forests that the public has entrusted them
to protect and preserve . They have approved almost every Vineyard Deforestation
project that has been proposed during the last decade.
Since when is
it the job of the CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY to completely wipe
out the forest ?
